Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Sonakshi Sinha: Who was the biggest entertainer of 2013? Vote! Pin It
This year saw B-town heroines give the Khans tough competition… and we totally loved it!
Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif have something in common: these two B-town beauties proved that they are no less than Bollywood’s Khans. Matching the levels of Salman Khan, Shahrukh Khan and Aamir Khan, Dippy delivered back-to-back hits with Race 2, Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express and Goliyon ki Rasleela Ram-Leela and featured with some of the most sought actors in tinseltown. She also took home a lot of Rs 100 crore pies from the box office. Katrina Kaif’s aerial acts and stunning looks gave takkar to the Perfectionist Khan in Dhoom:3 and despite just one release this year, she managed to grab headlines thanks to holiday pictures of her in a bikini with beau Ranbir Kapoor for company.
The year also had an ample dose of Shotgun Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter Sonakshi Sinha, who had four big releases – Lootera, Once Upon a Time in Mumbai Dobaara, Bullett Rajaj and R…Rajkumar. We must say that Sona impressed us with her act in Lootera, but the other films she was part of were ignorable, even while R…Rajkumar with ‘good friend’ Shahid Kapoor did decent business at the box office.
Priyanka Chopra may be singing an Exotic song and feeling that way, but our heroine turned popstar’s acting didn’t score very high in 2013. While Krrish 3 created box office records, we didn’t think that she lived up to her ‘act in actor’ that she talked of on Karan Johar’s popular chat show Koffee With Karan in Season 3. To add to her dud performances, she had the Zanjeer remake with southern star Ram Charan Teja. And Pinky failed to get paisa or appreciation from critics or fans for her item turns – no, not even as badmaash Babli in Shootout At Wadala.
PeeCee’s cousin Parineeti did a fair job in Shudh Desi Romance. We simply love this gal, a natural as far as acting is concerned, hai na? This year also proved lucky for Bollywood’s fashionista Sonam Kapoor. Sonam had two hits this year – Raanjhanaa and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag; while her appearance in the second can be considered a cameo, the Kapoor gal celebrated her long awaited success at the box office.
Vidya Balan Roy Kapur and Kareena Kapoor Khan have both impressed us with their talent, but this year Ms Balan’s Ghanchakkar made our heads reel more with confusion than excitement and even Kareena couldn’t save a dud like Gori Tere Pyar Mein with Imran Khan.
BollywoodLifers, who did the year 2013 belong to?
